Summary of DBF trip to Alsace

On Sunday evening the 25th of May, 33 members and partners returned from this year's amazing study trip to Alsace.

The group travelled 960 km through Germany, France and Switzerland. On the way, they were able to experience both the largest brewery in France (Kronenbourg), a large malthouse (Soufflet), a brewing research institution (IFBM), two craft breweries (Perle and 3 Brasseurs) and a 450 years old family managed winery. All of this while they spent the first night in a monastery and the next two nights in an old romantic Bergheim Hotel.

The days were long and intense, but there was also time for good lunches, evenings enjoying French cuisine and enjoying each others great company.

To sum up, a very enjoyable and educational trip! We hope that spouses and partners also liked the programme.

A special THANK YOU goes to Maud Betbeder and Majken Holstebroe, who both helped generate contacts in France and establish the exciting programme.

Event summary - "Beer and Cheese"

Thursday the 8th og May 2025, 40 members gathered at the Home of Carlsberg's Brewers Loft for our afternoon event ''Beer and Cheese''.
The event was a continuation of a similar event at FOOD TECH in Herning in October 2024, where our deputy chairman Olav Vind Larsen took part and got inspired.

The DBF event was fully booked and we were welcomed by Olav and Anders Kissmeyer, who introduced his team: Peder Zacho Hansen from Ebeltoft Farmbrewery, Bjarke Bundgaard from Carlsberg/Jacobsen, Rasmus Holmgård from Ost & amp, and independent cheese expert and communicator along with Chef Nikolaj Kissmeyer, deputy at Restaurant Palægade.

The afternoon and evening took us through interesting pairings of 6 different cheeses with 12 different beers, all presented by Anders and as a tribute to the fine craftmanship.
All participants were given a scoresheet with the different cheeses and beers. The pairings were well presented, and the audience took part with many good comments and questions.

Thank you to Anders, Olav and all guests for a wonderful event!

A record-breaking turnout marked this exclusive evening at Alefarm - a stand out event besides from our traditional Christmas dinner! Members of the Danish Brewers' Guild experienced the unique combination of craft brewing and cutting-edge AI use.

The event began with a warm welcome and an engaging story about the creation of Alefarm. Guests then enjoyed a guided tour of the production facility, gaining first-hand insight into Alefarm's brewing equipment and their commitment to high-quality craft brewing.

The highlight of the evening was the AI lecture by Owner Kasper Tidemann, titled "A Practical, Real-World Introduction to AI." His presentation showcased how artificial intelligence is assisting his brewery operations through practical examples, providing a fascinating glimpse into the future of utilising AI in craft brewing.

As a part of the presentation, Kasper presented the "Hop Prediction Model for the Danish Brewers' Guild" developed by himself. It can be found here if you would like more information:

DBF General Assembly - 5th of March 2025

Thank you for a lovely general assembly in Hotel Villa Copenhagen! A very cozy experience with great people, food, drinks and surroundings.

Some highlights from the year of 2024 was mentioned by our Chairman Michael Knoth:

In January 2024 the Guild supported two groups of brewers with our Ulrik Brinch Scholarship. Both groups (a team of young members from NIRAS and Jan Paul)

reported on their travel experiences at our Christmas meeting in November 2024, which was very inspiring and brought about a lot of smiles.

The year of 2024 was intense with a lot of successful events and gatherings. One major activity was hosting the 29th Nordic Technical Meeting in Copenhagen with the theme "Moderation - Development - Sustainability".

Another major activity was hosting our 125th year anniversary in October in the wonderful halls of the National Museum in Copenhagen – an event attracting 140 members and partners.

The year ended with our traditional Christmas dinner on the 15th of November at Schiller Office Hotel.

Of course we also have a lot of events and plans to look forward to in 2025:

Several applications for the Ulrik Brinch Scholarship were received by the 31st of January 2025.

Århus Bryghus has already been visited on the 5th of February. You can read about the visit in the News section below this post.

A technical visit to Alefarm Brewing is being planned for the 3rd of April - Stay tuned for more information soon!

Our study trip to Alsace on the 22-25th of May is approaching and is fully booked with 35 participants.

A Novonesis visit in Hørsholm is being planned for the Spring of 2025.

Our annual Christmas Dinner is already planned for the 5th of December 2025 at the Schiller Office Hotel in Copenhagen.
